🎄 Decorate with Me!🎄
Ho Ho Ho! Today is the first day of December!
I love decorating the Christmas tree. Every year I struggle to survive the onslaught of Christmas commercials that follow the fading out of Halloween, knowing that I can’t put my decorations up until the day after Thanksgiving. But when that day comes, when we put away our leftovers from Thanksgiving and fall turns to winter, I know my favorite time of the year is here.
We pulled the tree out of the box and put it together, only to find out that the middle part didn’t light up anymore. I couldn’t believe it! We just got this tree two years ago! Well, I guess that’s what we get for having a cat that loves to climb in it. I don’t know for sure if that’s why the lights don’t work, but it’s certainly why a bunch of the branches are broken.
Regardless of why they didn’t work, they didn’t, so Danny had to go out and buy more lights.
And little Wednesday here is the culprit!
When Danny came back from the store, he brought with him not just lights for the tree but colored cafe lights to dress up the big front window! It was a big surprise, but it looks so good! It really draws that whole side of the room together.
This ornament was actually Danny’s first Christmas present to me. We were seniors in high school and had only been going out for a couple of months by that point, but we already knew we loved one another and planned to be together forever (We’re over fourteen years now). Now it’s one of the staple pieces to our Christmas tree. For years, whenever we put up a tree, this ornament is always on it.
This was a really fun night, and I’m glad we did it together. One of my favorite memories from each year that we’ve been married is putting up our tree every year. He mostly takes care of putting the tree actually together while I do the actual decorating, and afterwards I had a nice big cup of hot chocolate while we finished re-watching YOU.
And thus concludes the christmas tree decorating! I’m so excited to see where this month takes us! I want to really go all out and enjoy the holiday season this year. Lately my mental health hasn’t been all that wonderful (which is why my other posts are so few and far between) but I’m feeling a lot better now and I’m ready to get back on the horse!
What do you most look forward to about Christmas? Have you guys decorated your trees yet? Let me know in the comments!
See you guys tomorrow!
