đWe Went to See Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!đ
Hi everyone!
Yesterday we went to see Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice at the Regal theatre. Iâve been a huge Tim Burton fan since I was 12 or 13, and when we heard that they were finally making a sequel to the much beloved Beetlejuice movie, I knew I had to see it!
I started loving Tim Burton movies after my aunt gave me her DVD copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas to watch while my mom and I were on vacation. We stayed at these cabins in the middle of nowhere that had no internet access (not that I had a phone at the time that had internet anyway) and the only thing on TV to watch was Everybody Loves Raymond. So I ended up watching The Nightmare Before Christmas on loop that entire weekend, and listening to the cassette of the soundtrack my aunt also gave me.
From then on I was hooked.
Beetlejuice was my favorite one to watch during the summertime and I watched it practically daily. Naturally, I had to see the sequel!
Hereâs the trailer if youâre interested!
I had been planning my look for this movie since the moment I heard about it. I knew exactly what I was going to wear, but needed a little time to think about my makeup look. I tried a few ideas in the past, but ultimately I ended up winging it day-of. That was the best thing I couldâve done because Iâm so proud of how my (admittedly mediocre, because Iâm terrible at it) makeup came out!
Of course I had to use my âHandbook for the Recently Deceasedâ eyeshadow palette I got from HotTopic a thousand years ago. Even if it ultimately doesnât make a difference with how the look came out, and even though I have a thousand different palettes (being dramatic to make a point lol) it mattered to me that I use the one associated with the movie. I ended up packing on a ton of âDark Roomâ which is the purple shade in this palette. Itâs actually the only color I ended up using out of this palette, because the black doesnât get dark enough for my liking.
Also, at the time I hadnât thought to use black eyeshadow in the final look. It wasnât until I sat back and really looked at it that I decided it needed some black. So I got my âSleepwalkerâ liquid lipstick from Blackmoon Cosmetics and used that as a base, then used the black from my The Nightmare Before Christmas palette to build up a really dark, smoky-eyed look with the purple. It came out much better than I expected (Iâm always prepared to have to start over on my makeup!) so thats a yay for me!
I knew I wanted to use my black lipstick from Killstar (I forget what its called. Not that it matters, because they donât sell it anymore đ ) but I didnât know how I wanted to incorporate more Beetlejuice-style colors into it. Then I remembered! I had my Kat Von D Alchemist Palette, and I could add the emerald color on top. I ended up really loving how it looked!
I had also put on some of my Blackmoon Cosmetics âGlow Wormâ highlight, but Iâm so pale I can never see it. Again, though, I think it was mostly just a small detial for me!
My top was just a regular black shirt I got from like, American Eagle I think? My skirt, however, was something I picked up on Poshmark like seven years ago from Pinup Couture. I never had much of an occasion to wear it until this movie came out! Honestly, my entire outfit was built out of pieces that I knew ages ago that I just had to have, but didnât know the perfect way to put together completely. It all came together!
My shoes were also a Poshmark find, but they were found earlier this year and I think theyâre one of the pairs of shoes Dre Ronayne designed a long time back? I canât remember, but I had always planned to wear them to this movie!
My bag was also another ancient HotTopic purchase. My mom got it for me for Christmas a bunch of years back, and I knew no other bag would do for this movie. I mean, come on!
I had wanted to take a picture of the empty theatre, maybe a picture together with my husband when we were in our seats, but we ended up getting to the movie a few minutes late. Oh well!
The entire movie was really fun! The pacing was really fast, we both agreed, having smooshed a lot into an hour and a half movie, but I still found myself laughing and smiling the entire time! As far as late sequels go, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice really stuck with the vibe long time fans would recognize from the original. Also, it was really fun getting to see new aspects of the universe Tim Burton created so long ago. The new movie expands on the setting quite a bit with a whole new story and I actually really liked that. It wasnât just a re-hashing of the old story.
Naturally I got the collectables. I had gone in intending to get the Sandworm popcorn bucket, but they had already sold out the night before (true opening night) so I got the âHandbook for the Recently Deceasedâ one instead, and honestly? Iâm much more happy with it. I plan to use it in my library redo as a display piece, as well as a functional popcorn bowl.
As for the drink, I had always planned to get the Sandworm. I didnât know if the drink came with our purchase or not, but Iâm really glad it did!
I love it when movies do collectable stuff like this. I remember going to midnight releases of games or DVDs because the store would offer collectable stuff with them. These ones, though, will forever be a staple in my everyday life from now on. I love them, and I had such a great day!
If youâve seen the movie, or want to, tell me what you think!
